Eleanor is the oldest child in a huge family, but despite the fact that she’s surrounded by little siblings 24/7, she feels incredibly unhappy. Park is a loner. While his friends try to get him to join in on their activities, Park just wants to be left alone to listen to music. It’s 1986, and these two misfits’ lives are about to change as their worlds collide.

Parents should be aware that this book contains:

• Profanity (including the F-word)
• Kissing and making out with partial nudity
• An abusive stepfather is an alcoholic who hits his wife, yells at his kids, and smashes things
• A fistfight
• Bullying

Eleanor & Park is a bittersweet young adult contemporary romance, with equal parts sweet and sad, that portrays the lives of two high schoolers realistically. There is a lot of profanity in this book, so I would not recommend it for young readers.
